Never really had a use for mind maps until now.

Coggle seems to be very useful at the moment, 'free' and quite easy to use.

My project is quite 'mappable' so far.

Illustrated Research Project Proposal

Feeling a little more confident now and one week into the preparation of my Illustrated Research Project Proposal. It feels like it's going to incorporate long exposures, pinhole techniques and a camera obscura.
An old cardboard box, a couple of holes (sizes unknown yet) and a sheet of white paper inside.
Picture
The round hole in the logo, size unknown produces the following image, photographed with an iPhone through the square hole.
Picture
I had a rummage through my odds and ends drawer and found an old Nikon +2 diopter  viewfinder. To see what would happen I placed it in front of the pinhole

The difference is incredible! What a stroke of luck/genius!!

Now I know the approximate dimensions I now have to source some plywood, hinges and some photographic paper.

3. AUTHORSHIP and COLLABORATION:

Holiday in France.
Not really finding the time, or peace, to concentrate properly on the tasks set.

Collaboration - not really working for me. I've a few ideas but the collaborees I'd like to work with have chosen others, I think.

I liked the idea of absent photographer and had a couple of ideas. I took two photos on the back of that.
Picture
Although collaborating would be tricky with these subjects. Unless each person mimicked these shots and they became a series.

MA Project—- The more that things change…
About Folkestone regeneration
About me, film, digital and now film again.
The road layout, bus station, middelburg, pavilion (job). One way system. Buses.  People. Maddison Seain River, outside their houses.
Space bar - Location for exhibition- pavilion then probably some where else. Loss of job.
Folkestone regeneration
Folkestone as an art place. Tracy Emin and London.
Perhaps different photographic techniques?  Not my usual style. But my style is good. Don’t change it.
Thought about whilst drunk, normally sober. A change from the normal. Saturday morning 00.55. Awoken. Not usual. Change is coming. Worried about job. Worried about university. Relationship great. Still a change. Mid life crisis.

Research: Old Folkestone. Trains. Station. Routes. Graham. Death. New owners. Dunedin. Research. Shops. Bars. People. Simon Warren. Dirk. Old photographers. Photographer shops.
Gentrification? Ousted people. Resentment.

Topic!! Photographing change. A record. A warning? Warning of loss? Change? Is change good? Digital vs film. I’d like to explore glass etc see bloke in tontine street, Carl Warren’s mate. Photograph him. At work. Studio. Process. His change.

Old shops. Change of use. Space bar. Old high street.

Pavilion exhibition
Explore bus advertising as exhibition. Projection onto building as exhibition??

Today is 5 February 2022. Off skiing. Awake. Can’t sleep. . Neighbour’s upstairs. Baby. 0107hrs. Car. Driving hospital. Birth. Change but always they same. Rebirth? This house. New ideas. All this is done before. Colin Pantell first webinar talking to? about it’s all been done before. Email Colin, ask him what he was talking about and why? It was a style I think.

The moment it clicks. The moment it clicked. Excitement. Public record. Snapshot.

Research: influences. Who initiated a change. What was the change. Style? Daguerreotype. Glass. Stereoscopic. Right at the beginning of the course learnt this. Renaissance. Keeping the past alive.

Use the styles that were new at the time. Include drone, video, aerial shots. ( mention captioned ‘taken from a plane’ obvious) Drone shot of bus station. Make this art and accessible to folkestone residents. ( perhaps an art tour). Several locations as installations perhaps. Like the idea of projection. Close road? Speak to council? Research. Side of building.

This house, history. watkin. Back garden. Recreate photo. Change again. Staying the same.
Vinyl record shops. N and T vinyl cleaners. The record shop. Blue plaque Simon. Light house. Reimagined. Job change archivist.

Bus sides exhibition? Advertising has always been, but it’s changed. Explore advertising changes re, photography. Bus shelters? Buses change but stay the same.

Use - everywhere means something to someone. The old photos on the streets that the triennial used. A record of etc.

Drunk/sober thoughts. Can’t sleep. Wide awake. Tired. France skiing. Excited. Beautiful wife.

Lucky.

0133hrs

Change = excitement. Disappointment if it doesn’t work. Railway channel tunnel. Railway. Route through folkestone. Speak to planners. How about recording different stages. Not a likely course to follow but explore it a little.
Use a photo from London museum? Writing on stone? Photo light graph writing. A permanent record.

Speak to Roger. Harbour arm exhibition. Funding. Etc.

The beginning

Feelings of being lost. Is this the right way to do it? Reading different sections of Falmouth's website. Trying to find direction, purpose. I know I'm a good photographer, but can I express what I see? Forty years ago I left school, loving photography, loving taking photographs.
Now? I still love photography, I still love taking photographs. I want to explore, different techniques, perspectives, thoughts and views.

So far I'm loving it, bewildered, but loving it. Just reading fellow students thoughts on photographs they see. A little hint of what's expected. Hearing that other students have started researching, making notes. Me? Waiting for 'The Moment It Clicks'.
